The medium for this project was prisma colors. The assignment was to incorporate literal reflections in the picture while also symbolically using the piece to reflect yourself. Swimming is a huge part of my life so I decided to use the setting for my piece as a pool. in the piece there are three sets of goggles. I reflected a picture of myself in each lense of the goggles. The picture go chronologically from left to right as my swimming career progressed. I loved the idea of my project however if I were to do this project again, I would definitely use a larger piece of paper. I struggled to add the detail in the faces that I was working towards because of how small I had to make the goggles, and thus the faces. I also wish I had not done a blue haze over the faces on the goggles. I think that the haze just made the face look messy instead of the appearance that the face was a reflection. I think I was successful in my colors though. This was the first time I had ever used prisma colors to do a person/face. Skin colors really challenged me to grow with my prisma color skills. I learned from this project that laying down too many colors creates a waxy appearance. I also learned a lot about composition in this piece and how to crop pictures to make them look the best. Having the goggles come off the page definitely enhanced my piece. By the end of this project, though I have more respect for prisma colors, I still prefer painting.
