This piece was actually the last piece that I did over the summer. The idea behind the piece was a monster under the bed. When thinking about my concentration, moments of adrenaline, I tried to think about the times that I feel adrenaline. One of my fears I of the dark; not necessarily the dark itself, but what could be in the dark that I cannot see. I thought about painting a very scary monster under the bed, however decided against it. One of the scariest things about the dark is how your imagination comes alive. I left the monster mostly dark, allowing the viewer to be able to have their own imagination run wild. I think that the dust ruffle was the hardest part to paint in this piece. In the original picture, the dust ruffle was more blue than purple. I think that the dust ruffle was actually one of the most successful parts of this piece. I also think that the hair turned out really well. I used a lot of texture when painting the hair and think that it turned out very well. Overall, I think that I used a very good composition in this piece and was able to use my colors well. This piece helped develop my acrylic skills as well.
